Western Cape Responds To Energy Crisis Worcester Provincial Hospital contracts SunTank to install a solar heating system Cape Town and Pretoria 10 March 2006. SunTank, South Africa’s leading solar heating company, has been confirmed the supplier of choice for the installation of a commercial scale solar energy system for the WC Department of Health’s Worcester Provincial Hospital. The solar energy system is designed to achieve a 35% reduction in the energy consumption of the hospital and enable the hospital to reduce its peak electricity load. Installation of the solar system is to commence during March 2006 and commissioning is expected by May. Yoram Gur Arie, SunTank’s Managing Director commented: “ The province’s commitment to the rollout of Solar Water Heating installations is a clear indication that authorities are beginning to accept the reality that waiting for Eskom to lead the country out of the coal era could be a painful experience. With new industrial size orders coming in at an average rate of three per month, the company’s main challenge is the recruitment and training of installation technicians and project leaders.
